Full Moon Over the La Sals
Utah

For two days in late November of 2004 I sat on one site in the Canyon Rims area of South-East Utah patiently shooting the landscape in the
shifting light.  In the mornings I shot  off of a south cliff face while in the evenings, the north face had the best angles.  Two weather systems
passed through while I was there - a wonderful gift that enhanced and diversified the compositions with shifting light, tones and cloud forms.
Amusingly, I had surprise in the middle of the first night as snow and rain drenched me and my down sleeping bag as I slept "under the stars", as
I typically do in the desert.  Half asleep I put up my 4-season tent, wishing I wasn't lazy about setting up the tent earlier!

In this composition I caught the rising moon over the La Sal Mountain Range just after sunset.  Intense surreal colors with odd cloud forms are
dominant in this photo.  The colors are much more vibrant in an original print than what can be shared on the web - you should see this shot in
person!
